BIO



Haitian-American filmmaker Philippe (Phil) Roc’s resume spans across film, music videos, documentaries, commercials and web narratives. He has directed and produced projects for clients such as recording artists Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg and Roger Waters.

Roc has directed several award winning short films. AVENUE X, which premiered at The Tribeca Film Festival later went on to screen at numerous film festivals internationally. It earned him a nomination for the IFP Market’s Gordon Parks Award for Directing. VET (he both photographed and directed) is the story of a U.S. soldier returning home and suffering the ravages of PTSD. RHYME ANIMAL is a serialized digital project he directed and represents his foray into the type of long-form narratives more often found on television. It was awarded with the Best New Media Series prize by the Independent Film Quarterly.

His love of music and film, has translated into several high-profile music based projects. MADE IN HEAVEN – THE MAKING OF KIND OF BLUE — the documentary covering the making of the seminal album by Miles Davis was produced by Phil for Sony Music DualDisc. And Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd fame, tapped him as his Visual Content Producer for the international production of THE WALL LIVE tour.

Phil has collaborated with filmmaker Crystal McCrary, photographing and directing LITTLE BALLERS INDIANA- , the 3 part docu-series follow up to the feature length documentary LITTLE BALLERS, which aired on Nick Sports Jr. He is currently filming the documentary, A SWEETER SUGAR, which deals with how desegregation affected black college sports and HBCUs. He is also developing several film, and episodic projects.

Roc resides in Los Angeles with his wife, daughter and dog.
